Why I am no longer subscribing to DAZ3d
Firstly, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against DAZ3D or their business model/ I have been an avid fan of Daz for almost 10 years and I used to spend more time (and money) perusing their site in search of models and clobber for my constructs than elsewhere. But times are changing. I now see that DAZ is moving on with Genesis 9 and the current stock of content is geared up specifically for this model. I have been working almost exclusively in Genesis 8/8.1 and the Gen8 model seems to tick a number of boxes for me but I am also now reverting back to simpler models such as Genesis 3 and even Genesis 2 / Olympia 6 and the back catalogue of assets I have for these. Why? This is because my workflow has completely altered over the last six months. I no longer rely on polygon details or hour long Iray renders using a mix of finely tuned lights to achieve the best images I can create. The advent of AI text to image and image to image has spawned a number of very functional (and free)
I was a digital artist/graphic designer for 25 years - alas the company is no more - having shut it's doors for good after a little over 40 years in business. "Thems the breaks" as they say. I still keep a close ear to the ground concerning digital art, and my longtime love affair with sculpting in clay hasn't abated.
No worries! I just started a new Conan-themed group a couple days ago because REH Conan is inactive these days. https://www.deviantart.com/hyboria-lives if you want to join!
